OVERTON’S sheepfair returned to the village for the fourth time.
The weekend of events arrives in the village once every four years and on Saturday and Sunday villagers could again enjoy the attraction.
The sheepfair started with a fancy dress wheelbarrow race around the village pubs last Friday, which raised £1,400 for Overton Recreation Centre.
The theme was celebrating an era of change 1940-1952 and visitors were invited to dress up in costume.
There were street entertainers, a funfair, stalls, skating demonstrations, DJ workshops, a bungee run and other attractions.
Jeff Teagle, chairman of the Sheepfair Committee, said: “A galaxy of entertainers, professional and volunteer, gave joy and amusement.
“All of the stalls, displays, exhibitions and the funfair were busy throughout the two days.
“We thought that Winchester Street was well supported on Saturday, but with the fine weather on Sunday all our expectations were exceeded and thousands turned out.”
